What is the Caged?
Caged IBC totes are intermediate bulk containers primarily used to handle and ship hazardous commodities during the middle mile. These are one-time-use containers of polyethylene supported by a protective cage frame made from galvanized steel. A caged IBC tote is also referred to as a Title 49 CFR, and they are certified and tested per the UN / DOT criteria.
Significance of Caged in an E-commerce Shipping and Delivery
Manufacturers can now supply chemicals worldwide due to the caged IBC tote. Furthermore, the steel case ensures easy handling and reduced operational cost.
- Supply and demand: Chemicals are used to research and develop essential drugs. However, their availability is minimal. Caged IBC tote allows several industries to acquire the required liquid chemicals worldwide. A caged IBC tote makes this feat possible, filling the demand for such chemicals.
- Easy maneuvering: A caged IBC tote allows efficient maneuvering due to the enclosed steel frame. It ideally decreases the total time required for handling the reflects on the overall transit time. Furthermore, handling equipment can be used, thus requiring less workforce.
Prerequisites of Caged and How It Works
Caged IBC totes transport general commodities and hazardous and non-hazardous liquids. There are no such requirements for using the mentioned container. However, for dangerous chemicals, one can only rely on a caged IBC tote for its delivery.
A shipping company increases the maneuverability of a square-shaped container; these companies install an enclosed steel frame on every square-shaped container. The sizing is determined, and the steel case is made per the sizing.
Use Case with Caged
A shipping company received several products from different sellers in Manila city. The shipping company was required to ship them to a warehouse in Davao city. Therefore, the company stacked them in a high cube container of 2896mm and enclosed them in a steel frame for easier handling. Once the Davao city warehouse received the product, the caged steel was handled using the required equipment.
