Order Split for Multi-Parcel Shipment

Note: This feature is dependent on whether the marketplace can support order split. Among the brand.com platforms, only Shopify is allowed for order splitting currently. As for marketplaces such as Lazada and Shopee, order splitting is NOT allowed since Locad has no control over the last mile booking.

To improve operational efficiency moving forward, Locad will now enable brands via the help of our Customer Success and Operations teams to split an order, so that it can be fulfilled as different parcels. 

Use Cases fulfilled:

With this improved handling efficiency, the following use cases can be catered with Locad’s Order Split functionality: 

Partial fulfillment of pre-order:

Under this case, our warehouse team will pick, pack, and ship the ready items in the warehouse to be fulfilled first. The remaining pre-order items stay classified as ON_HOLD until their respective stock has arrived and inbounded in the said warehouse.

Overweight/Oversized order:


Under this case, items surpassing the size and weight limit of preferred last mile carriers will be separated into different fulfillment orders so that each package is booked with a different shipment booking, allowing them to be within the carrier weight/dimension/volume limit.

Key advantages of Order Splitting:

  • Shipments will now be booked automatically in the same manner as a B2C order and everything will be recorded within the system unlike before when it was done manually and communicated. 
  • Order status, tracking number and tracking link are all sync-ed back to Shopify for the respective items, providing visibility to client and end customer even for multi-parcel.
  • Clients do not need to recreate a separate order on marketplace or OMS, saving time and effort for communication and fiddling around the systems.
